United in Pride
Stories of Belonging, Allyship and Community across RELX
This Pride Month, RELX is United in Pride – in the everyday acts of allyship, inclusion and care that help colleagues feel they truly belong. Across teams, regions and businesses, unity is built in moments that may seem small at first: a manager’s steady support, a conversation where someone feels heard, an employee resource group creating space for connection, a policy that recognises and respects your life outside work.
These moments shape how we work together across our global organisation. When we stand together, we create a community where everyone can thrive. Here we explore stories of unity, belonging and pride from eight colleagues across the globe.
Arren Jay Nabos
Event Support Specialist II, RX/RELX Philippines
As an Event Support Specialist at RX, Arren manages inbound calls, chats, and emails for both B2B and B2C events, while also helping improve customer service through quality assurance and subject matter expertise.
“I was initially drawn to RELX because of its strong commitment to inclusivity, work-life balance, and its core value of “valuing what matters.” Since joining, this has been reinforced by a supportive culture that genuinely prioritises employee well-being, inclusion, and belonging.”
That sense of belonging has shown up in visible and practical ways, from employee resource groups (ERGs) to inclusive benefits. “Seeing the strong presence of ERGs reflects RELX’s commitment to inclusion across all communities. I truly felt this through inclusive policies, such as extending benefits to partners, and through Pride Circle Manila, where employees are encouraged to come together and celebrate in the Philippines’ largest Pride march.”
Arren’s own journey has grown alongside that community. “I felt particularly supported and valued when the ERG core team reached out to invite me into a leadership role, an opportunity that meant a lot to me. From that moment last year to becoming President this year, it has been a journey shaped by trust, inclusion, and support.”
For Arren, unity is visible in allyship. “It’s reflected in how colleagues uplift one another, celebrate inclusion, and create safe spaces where everyone feels seen and valued.”
Lex Coe
Commercial Knowledge Lawyer, LexisNexis – UK
Lex Coe’s work as a Commercial Knowledge Lawyer is rooted in clarity, accuracy and insight. Sitting in the Commercial Practical Guidance team at LexisNexis UK, Lex maintains a substantial body of legal content on Lexis+, writes commentary on legal developments, and contributes to sprint, operational efficiency and AI projects.
But joining LexisNexis also marked something deeply personal. “Joining LexisNexis was the first opportunity for me to truly bring my whole self to work. Early on, I began leading the LexisNexis UK Pride ERG and found a community that enabled me to learn, grow and feel supported."
"Not having to question whether it was safe to share my gender, sexuality or relationship status allowed me to shed a long-held mask. This significantly improved both my psychological safety and my performance at work.”
For Lex, belonging is built in everyday moments. “While working at LexisNexis, I came to better understand my gender identity, and the support I received after sharing that I was non-binary with my team was incredible.” What mattered most were the practical actions that made respect real: “Small but meaningful actions - such as colleagues helping me update my name across our systems - demonstrated genuine care and allyship.”
That care has helped them connect authenticity with contribution. “RELX’s commitment to inclusion, wellbeing and continuous learning fosters a genuinely supportive and innovative culture.”
Dino Masovic
Regional Account Manager, ICIS – UK
Dino Masovic’s work as a Regional Account Manager for Southern Europe at ICIS is about connection. “My role sits at the intersection of people, markets and strategy. I spend my days building relationships, understanding what matters to our customers and helping them use ICIS intelligence to make clearer, more confident business decisions in a constantly changing market.”
For Dino, belonging makes people better at their work because it makes room for the full person behind the role. “A sense of belonging matters to me because I do my best work when I feel I can bring my personality, background and perspective into the room, not just my job title. I really felt that through the ERG space at RELX where conversations around identity, culture and personal growth felt open and genuinely human.”
Unity, for Dino, is shared purpose with room for difference. “For me, unity is about different people coming together with the same purpose: to grow, support each other and become the best version of ourselves."
"Through Pride and the UK ERG, I’ve felt that when people are encouraged to be authentic, they bring more energy, trust and creativity into everything they do. That is when unity feels real.”
Gabriela Marinho Righetto
Associate Scientific Editor, Elsevier – Brazil
As an Associate Scientific Editor at Elsevier, Gabriela Marinho Righetto works with scientific manuscripts, evaluating the integrity and reliability of data, as well as each submission’s scope and fit for the journal.
“I was initially drawn to Elsevier because of its significant role in disseminating scientific knowledge worldwide. Since joining, I've come to appreciate the work that goes behind publishing and the high ethical standards the company upholds.”
Belonging, for Gabriela, means not having to wonder whether support includes her. “A sense of belonging is important to me because it creates an environment where people feel respected, supported, and comfortable being who they are."
"Since joining Elsevier, I've never had to question whether policies, opportunities or support truly applied to me because of my sexual orientation, race, or gender - I knew it did.”
That certainty shapes everyday life at work. “As a woman married to another woman, I've never felt uncomfortable sharing aspects of my personal life at work. The support has been reflected in both larger institutional matters (like benefits and healthcare coverage), and in everyday interactions with colleagues. I've never felt the need to hide or think twice before mentioning my partner in conversations. It just felt natural to do so, as anyone would.”
For Gabriela, unity is not sameness. “Inclusion is promoted not by expecting everyone to be the same, but guaranteeing equality while encouraging people to be themselves authentically.”
Chris Vaz
CS&OTC Executive, Elsevier – India
As a Sales Operations and Client Services professional, Chris Vaz supports sales teams, manages client accounts, coordinates workflows, and acts as a liaison across customers, sales, finance and operations.
Elsevier’s mission immediately resonated. “Elsevier has long valued people who bridge science and scholarly communication, making it a natural fit for professionals with both research insight and publishing experience.”
For Chris, belonging is built through consistency. “I’ve genuinely felt supported through everyday interactions with like-minded colleagues who value respect, empathy, and authenticity. Small gestures such as being included in conversations, feeling heard, and having my identity acknowledged without judgment have created a real sense of belonging.”
“To me, unity at RELX is reflected in the way people support and respect one another regardless of identity or background. Through Pride initiatives, allyship, and everyday inclusive interactions, employees are encouraged to be authentic and feel genuinely valued.”
That culture, Chris says, makes RELX “a meaningful and empowering environment to grow professionally and personally.”
Yvana Lemos Vaér
Senior Marketing Analyst, RX – Brazil
As Senior Marketing Analyst, Yvana Lemos Vaér is responsible for communication across World Travel Market (WTM) Latin America’s digital channels and supports partnerships with media outlets across the region. “At RX Brasil, people are very dedicated and work together seamlessly to carry out the tasks needed to deliver highly successful events.”
For Yvana, belonging begins with voice. “Belonging is important because it reaffirms to me that my ideas are heard and opinions are valued.” She points to a Pride moment rooted in community and opportunity. “In June 2025, we held a fair for LGBTQ+ entrepreneurs inside our office, and that filled me with pride.”
That pride is also personal. “When I share my experiences as a Black lesbian woman with my colleagues, I am always heard and receive support and acceptance from them.”
“Through the PRIDE Committee, I feel the unity within RX. In it, we not only get to talk about topics that are important to us as a community, but we can also generate more information and knowledge to gain more allies for our causes.”
What makes RELX a great place to work for Yvana is "the diversity of people, the dynamic nature of daily work, and the professionals who are extremely dedicated to their activities.”
Shelby Boyd
Solutions Consultant Manager, Corporate Legal, LexisNexis – US
As Solutions Consultant Manager for Corporate Legal at LexisNexis Legal & Professional, Shelby Boyd leads the Corporate Legal Telephonic Solutions Consultant Team, while also serving as Vice President of the Dayton Pride ERG and on the Inclusion Council.
“I joined LexisNexis in 2022, having just completed law school and while preparing for the bar exam. I was drawn to LexisNexis not only for the opportunity to support legal professionals through their legal research and tech stack, but also for the employee-first approach the company has.”
For Shelby, belonging is both personal and purposeful. “A sense of belonging is critical at work as it empowers me to be myself, promotes psychological safety, and drives innovation, growth, and new ways of thinking.”
"I feel very privileged that I consistently feel a sense of belonging at LexisNexis, and it is near and dear to my heart to ensure others feel the same sense of belonging I do."
That commitment fuels her ERG and council work. “The company's support of the Pride ERG community and investment in partnering with Out & Equal demonstrate a commitment to inclusion.”
When asked what makes RELX a great place to work, Shelby’s answer is simple: “The people.” For her, that people-first culture is reinforced by the policies and practices that help employees feel valued and supported.
Sathish Kumar Seenivasan
Software Engineering Lead, Insurance, LexisNexis Risk Solutions – India
Sathish Kumar Seenivasan brings together technology, leadership and collaboration in his role as Software Engineering Lead in the India Technology Transformation Center (ITTC) Insurance team at LexisNexis Risk Solutions. “I was initially attracted to the company because of its strong focus on innovation, collaboration, and opportunities for continuous learning.”
For Sathish, belonging creates the conditions for strong teams. “A sense of belonging is important to me because it fosters community, trust, and the confidence to contribute openly. I experienced this through strong support from my manager and participation in inclusion initiatives like Pride activities, which created a welcoming environment. These experiences have helped me feel valued and motivated to contribute effectively to the team.”
These experiences shape how Sathish thinks about unity across RELX. “Unity, to me, shows up through collaboration, mutual respect, and actively supporting one another."
"Through Pride and allyship initiatives, I’ve seen colleagues create an open and inclusive environment where everyone feels safe to express themselves.”
“RELX is a great place to work because of its strong culture of inclusivity, collaboration, and continuous learning. It provides meaningful opportunities to grow while working on impactful projects with supportive teams.”
