At RELX, we are building a culture of recognition that celebrates both the excellent work across the organisation and important employee milestones. Noelle Simon, Head of Reward, explains, “when we take time to recognise each other, we strengthen our connections and build a community where we all feel included and valued.”
One of the ways we do this is through our recognition platform, Spotlight, which plays a vital role in connecting employees across RELX, and helps make it quick and easy to recognise each other.
By recognising excellence, we are creating an environment where everyone feels valued and inspired to perform at their best, ultimately driving our collective success. Spotlight also allows people managers to acknowledge outstanding contributions by awarding points that can be redeemed immediately for digital gift cards or locally sourced products. Points can also be saved or donated through charity and community initiatives.

It is important that employees feel valued. While we constantly remind team members to value our customers, it is crucial that they also feel motivated. We do this through recognition. Spotlight has brought so much value into the way we recognise and reward team members.

Recognition is an important part of the employee experience. There is wide evidence showing how positive employee experience correlates with higher productivity, improved talent retention and better customer outcomes.
On a more human level, recognition in my opinion also increases visibility, inspiration and improves morale/motivation to continually perform and grow, not just for the individual being recognised, but also infectiously across their colleagues and wider business communities.
Spotlight is a nice way to say thank you and recognise a colleague's valuable contributions, and the fact that there are tangible rewards for the recipient are a bonus. The GIFs are also fun and bring a smile every time.
