2025, A Year in Review

This year, we have turned the spotlight on the people who make RELX a unique place to work. We believe that what we do matters, but how we do it—and who does it—matters even more. By sharing these perspectives, we’ve opened a window into our culture, our purpose, and the incredible individuals driving progress for our customers and communities worldwide. These stories aren't just about celebrating success; they are about showing what's possible when talented people are empowered to grow, innovate, and lead with purpose. Over the course of the year we have profiled people from all four of our business areas.

Innovation at Speed

Across our business, we are constantly challenging ourselves to innovate faster and more efficiently. As we heard in Restless Innovation, this means leveraging our long-standing use of extractive AI—as well as our more recent adoption of generative AI—and embedding both into our internal processes to become better, faster, and more cost-effective.

This drive is powered by our people. We met product managers from across our business who are building groundbreaking tools to help customers evaluate risk, advance science, and improve legal outcomes. They are at the forefront of what’s next, turning complex data into trusted, actionable insights, as explored in Numbers to Narratives. By fostering a culture of ‘extreme reuse’ and collaboration, we ensure that great ideas and learnings are shared quickly, accelerating our ability to solve our customers’ most pressing problems.

Leaders Who Grow People

A core belief at RELX is that great leadership is about growing people. It’s a responsibility we take seriously. Through our bespoke Manager CORE programme, thousands of our people managers are learning to lead with Confidence, Objectivity, Respect, and Empowerment. In stories like Inspire Your Team and From Passion to Progress, we met managers who are champions of this philosophy. They create environments where people feel trusted, valued, and motivated to build their skills.

We saw how our leaders use employee feedback from our Employee Opinion Survey to foster transparency and drive meaningful change, as highlighted in Seeds to Success. We also explored how career success is a shared journey, not a ladder. As Rose Thomson, Chief Human Resources Officer explained in Bringing Colour to Career Success, it’s about aligning individual motivation with skills and opportunity. This focus on development is why so many of our top performers, like the sales professionals recognised in our Circle of Excellence awards, build long and successful careers with us.

A Purposeful, Inclusive Culture

A common thread woven through every story is the pride our people feel in their work. It stems from being part of an organisation with a real purpose—whether it’s advancing the rule of law, preventing fraud, or improving health outcomes. In Leading with Pride, we heard from colleagues who are inspired by the impact they have on the world. This sense of purpose is amplified by a culture where everyone can be their authentic self.

Inclusion is not just a policy; it’s how we operate. It’s what makes new joiners feel welcomed and valued from day one, as shared in New Beginnings. It’s why our teams in the Philippines report such high levels of engagement. And it’s why colleagues who leave often return, bringing back fresh perspectives to a culture they missed—our ‘Boomerangs’. They come back to a place that genuinely cares for its people and supports their wellbeing.

In STM Sales, we met colleagues from eclectic backgrounds—engineering, consulting, and R&D—who found their calling in sales at Elsevier, proving that diverse paths lead to creative problem-solving and amazing customer outcomes.
