A place to be yourself
MEN AT RELX
We value diversity at RELX. It makes our business stronger.
Here we catch up with some of the men across all areas of our business and around the world who make up 49% percent of our workplace, as they share their thoughts on the issues that matter to them the most. You can read about women at RELX here.
A place to make a difference
For many, the positive impact of their work on society really matters.
“What we do helps reduce risk in the world, so people genuinely care about their jobs and that makes a real difference.” - Greg Leech
“My favourite part of working here is having creative freedom and a sense of purpose in the projects I’m involved with, allowing me to challenge myself in my work and feel a real sense of pride when going above and beyond on a project.” - Ben Gilbert
"One aspect I like about my job is that our exhibition business contributes positively to society. For example, AGRI WORLD serves as an opportunity for training in addition to its main role as a B2B trade fair. Japanese farmers gather and fly from all over Japan to do their workshops at the show. They take the latest agricultural technology which they have learned at the show back to their home, and use this acquired knowledge and skills to improve productivity. ” - Daichi Yajima
“We help researchers, research leaders, librarians, funding bodies and government bodies, as well as hospitals, health authorities, medical schools and health professionals…the very people that are contributing to society in ways from which we can all benefit.” - Olivier Dumon
A place to work closely with customers
Helping drive success for our customers is why these guys get out of bed in the morning...
“We partner with customers and government organisations like the United Nations to help growing countries establish a Rule of Law. These investments help to bring a lot of meaning to the work we do every day.” - Jamie Buckley
“For me, real success is when customers make you an integral part of their work and look forward to the next big idea or product from your business. This is what I personally work towards and motivate my team to achieve too.” - Shiv Shankar
A place to explore
RELX is a big business serving customers in more than 180 countries and with offices in about 40 countries. Mobility is important…
“I first joined RELX, as a Graduate Software Developer in London. After six months, I transitioned onto a new team where I was fortunate enough to travel to China several times. This later led to me being given the opportunity to embark on a three-year secondment in one of our Shanghai offices. I am now working with a new team in Alpharetta in the US, which I think really highlights that RELX is a truly global company with lots of opportunities.” - Zach Bassett
“Travelling and meeting with people is what I like to do, both for work and during my free time, and I couldn’t think of a better position to achieve this. Each new day is, for me, a chance to learn more about our business, our products, our people and our customers.” - Pierre Sersiron
“Moving around the organisation has given me great exposure to the breadth and depth of our diverse talent” - Kevin McCabe
A place to be inspired
If it’s inspiration you need in your work, look no further...
“It is RELX's vision which continues to inspire me. My current role is Head of Government Affairs for RELX in China. This position gives me the opportunity to get to know all the businesses of RELX, and helps promote the great things we contribute to Chinese society - whether it is in STM, Big Data, business information or exhibition sectors.” - Hugo Zhang
“Reed Exhibitions has granted me the opportunity to grow, take ownership of integral projects and has reinforced that no idea is too big when we all work together. When all of the pieces come together, like in the case of our events, phenomenal things are possible!” - Taharka Beamon
“We consider our office to be a centre of excellence. Innovation is a top priority in my job, but I also see it as fun due to our office culture. We are committed to remaining on the cutting edge of technology which keeps us competitive in our industry as well as motivated internally.” - Steve Balamut
“I have had an amazing journey with RELX. The more I work, the more I get recognised and challenged, responsibilities increase and opportunities too. That still goes on every second of every day.” - Anton Berisha
“There is a strong Health Science market in Japan today and for the future as growth trends continue. It’s this energy that excites me and being involved in this field is both rewarding and motivational.” - Toshihide Saito
A place for balance
We understand that there are more important things in life than work. But don't just take our word for it, here are some of our people’s views...

“I have a great work-life balance and the ability to work on projects I’m passionate about while having a profound impact.” - Mac Taylor

I especially like the work environment at LexisNexis. It comes with a great work life balance, volunteer opportunities and a solid support system.” - Sandeep Pilania
