Six reasons
RELX is such
a great place
to work
Over the course of 2024 we have told many fascinating stories about our peoples' experiences of working here. From these stories, six clear ideas have emerged from our colleagues as to why RELX is such a great place to work.
We listen to our people
"Because psychological safety is important to us, our leadership team understands the importance of vulnerability and we welcome employee feedback throughout the year. Our commitment to the team is to provide updates regularly on the steps that we are taking to improve the areas that the team asked us to address. We believe acting promptly on the information received from the employee opinion survey helps us with our employee engagement, motivation and commitment."

We provide purposeful work
"It is my job to represent the voice of our customers so that, together, we work to benefit the lives of every patient."
We offer a compelling future
"Strategy is not something built and executed by senior executives. It comes to life in decisions our people make daily. We often talk about employee engagement and how important it is to our sustained growth and performance. For me, more specifically, it is about engagement in our strategy. This means doing all we can to help every colleague, no matter what job they do, understand how what they do drives our strategy - directly or indirectly."
We provide opportunities
"I review my team members' strengths with them, identifying areas where they excel or may require additional support. Additionally, I actively seek feedback from our internal customers and engage in one-to-one discussions to understand their perspectives on their own skills. One approach I take to make good use of skills is to allow my team to work on projects that interest them from a growth and learning perspective, in addition to tasks that need to get done. I’ve found that allowing a portion of their time to be spent acquiring new skills or honing existing ones can keep them motivated and interested. For senior team members I feel it’s important to just stay out of their way and provide feedback or encouragement as appropriate."

We do balance
"Although I’ve taken many work trips throughout my career, my recent trip to New York for UN meetings on behalf of RELX felt significant for a few reasons. It was my first time travelling for work since the pandemic and my first work trip as a mum of two young children. It’s fair to say that I was feeling quite anxious and uncertain if I could, or should, be going. I remember having a conversation with my line manager. She listened to me describing how I wasn’t sure if it was the right time and how difficult it would be to make it happen logistically; childcare, time differences, jet lag - the list of reasons not to go seemed endless. She shared with me her own experience of finding a balance between the desire to advance a career whilst having a young family. I instantly felt a sense of relief. Relief in that whatever decision I decided to take - it would be the right one. There was also just the right amount of gentle encouragement that I needed. So I decided to go and the week turned out to be one of the most impactful weeks of my career so far."
we include everyone
"The sad reality is that we don't have to look back at history as our community is currently experiencing real struggles in every country around the world. I am filled with both sadness and hope, because what do we have if not hope and this is what Pride holds for me. I am a non-binary transmasculine human and I am so grateful for the amazing people I work with who are showing active allyship. Many people had known me under a different name, pronouns and expression and all these people have treated me no differently. This means I can breathe easily knowing others have my back and I can feel safe. It's a beautiful family and that's community, accepting people for who they are."
