Opportunities for
me to grow

Carol Tang

HR Manager, Shanghai: Exhibitions

"I joined RX in 2016 as senior executive assistant to support the President of RX Greater China. In August 2021, I transferred to the HR team, taking the role of HR Manager to support the finance team as HR business partner and to manage learning and development in RX China."

"RX has provided rich resources and opportunities to help employees grow and develop. My perseverance and willingness to take on new challenges drove my growth within RX and the internal transfer to HR team. In my previous role I took extra effort to support the Corporate Communications team and organise internal activities to promote employer branding."

"The trust and empowerment I received allowed me to make decisions, take risks and innovate. And I clearly realised I’m the owner of my career development. The most meaningful goals take time to achieve and they require consistent effort."

"My proudest achievement is to have improved employee engagement through NIMBLE activities and I was the RX Greater China 2021 Winner of Inclusive, one of the six strengths of NIMBLE."

Working with
Products I love

Kevin Jing

Account Manager, Shanghai: Legal

"I’m currently working as an account manager in LexisNexis Legal & Professional (LNLP), mainly covering the law firm segment market. I joined in RELX in 2018."

"I graduated from Southwest University of Political Science and Law in China in 2011 and got my LLM  Degree from Temple University in Philadelphia in the US in 2013. I worked as a junior lawyer in Beijing before I went to the US and I had a nearly 4 years’ experience working as in-house council when I got back to Shanghai."

"I’ve loved LexisNexis’ online products since the time I was in Temple University so it’s a great career path to now be working with them first-hand. I’ve seen what the business has accomplished in the US and I see exciting opportunities for LexisNexis in China."

"I worked as a research solution consultant for 3 years when I joined LNLP and I’ve changed my role to sales from the beginning of 2022. I learned a lot in my first role, witnessing what AI and other technologies could bring to legal service market. I’m grateful to have had many chances to speak with lots of honorable lawyers and General Councils who have speared their time to talk with me."

"I changed my role into sales this year because I think it will bring me much closer to our customers and the whole legal service market. Our customers’ needs are our original motivation to make our online products and services better. And thanks to the trust and help from my dear colleagues and our senior leadership team, I’ve made this change in career. They’ve also given me lots of great suggestions and advice which has been excellent for my career. My proudest achievement at RELX so far is getting feedback and compliments from my customers and my colleagues."

I’m trusted and Supported

Bill Gao

Product Director, Beijing: Risk

"I am the product director of LexisNexis Risk Solutions in China. I am responsible for existing product development and new product innovation."

"I joined RELX in early 2019 and from the start I have been confident in the variety of data and cutting-edge modelling techniques we use for our customers. After 2 years, I decided to continue my exciting journey by applying the analytical results in our clients’ operations. The trust, guidance and support I have received from senior management and other teams have helped me grow and transition into the role of product director."

"It’s hard work, but I have found there is more than enough support and warm guidance in our family of colleagues to help me achieve even more in my career. Working closely with my colleagues in analytics, technology, business development and other teams, we launched the leading New Energy Vehicle Insurance underwriting risk evaluation solution in December 2021 for which we have received market recognition."

My fourteen-year journey continues

Elaine Cao

e-Sales Director, Beijing: STM

"I am the e-sales director in health science, supporting clinicians and medical staff to improve clinical outcomes."

"My RELX career started with Elsevier in Amsterdam in the Netherlands in 2008. Since then, I have worked for different functions over the past 14 years. I started as an intern content specialist. I then became a marketing manager for ScienceDirect, one of Elsevier’s products. In 2012 I became product sales manager for Ei and Scopus, two different Elsevier products, back in China. Two years later I was promoted to solution sales manager, also in China and in 2016, I accepted an offer to relocate back to Beijing as head of e-sales for health science. Finally, in 2020, I was promoted to my current director role."

"I am very proud of the growth in the business I have been able to achieve. It has been an incredible journey, that continues today."

I started my development
journey with RELX before I even joined

Guangliang Li

General Manager, KeAi Publishing, Beijing/Shanghai: RELX

"I joined RELX in July 2020 as government affairs director supporting Elsevier’s business in China. Just one year later, in August 2021, I was appointed as general manager of KeAi - a unique joint venture between Elsevier and China Science Publishing & Media Group, focusing on open access journal publishing."

"RELX is appealing, not only because of its industry leadership and robust development, but also because it is here where I can further-develop myself and work with people whom I admire."

"I started my development journey with RELX before I even joined. When I was working at Shanghai Jiao Tong University Press, I was very lucky to collaborate with the Elsevier team to publish academic books of Chinese president Jiang Zemin, and then to join a training programme at Elsevier’s Oxford office in the UK."

"After I joined RELX, the two most important things I’ve learned are how to enrich my experience in the Chinese content business with knowledge of international academic publishing and secondly, transitioning from the working style of a Chinese state-owned enterprise to a joint venture of a multi-national company."

"At KeAi we are proud to work with the Chinese research community to share first-class research output from China and the the rest of the world with the international research community to benefit society."

I am inspired by the people with whom I work

Peter Wu

General Manager, Beijing: Risk (Cirium)

"I look after the Greater China region of Cirium’s business in terms of sales and account management. I started this position in March 2021 and my main responsibility is to lead the Greater China team to grow the market sectors of aerospace, airlines, airports, finance, traveller services and government."

"I also lead and build Cirium’s brand in the region as the name of leading aviation data and analytics, to meet our company’s revenue target."

"I am relatively new to Cirium and RELX, but I am inspired by the people in my organisation and with the inclusive and open culture from senior leaders. My learning and development so far have mainly been through conversations and communications with my manager and peers. From them I have learnt a great deal about the company, the industry, our customers and our future plans."

"My proudest achievement has been to build a strong team with a collaborative and open culture, while we have also improved industry and geographical coverage of the region. My team is performing very well and I am very proud of them."
